1988 Chevy Scottsdale C2500 2wd, 350, 5spd 

THE GOOD: This truck has been in Central Oregon (desert) all its existence. No salt on the roads, so zero rust on the truck. 100% original and in good condition, 132k miles. Everything works. Interior is in good condition. Body is straight. Truck has never been wrecked or had any body work. Inside of bed has no rust, original paint. Clear title. As you can see on the warranty book, it was delivered new in Bend Oregon and is still here.

This truck is solid and dependable. I would drive it across the US without hesitation. I pulled an RV trailer 1250 miles across 7 passes from Oregon to Colorado.

Newer clutch, radiator, hoses, water pump, alternator, battery, valve cover gaskets, both U-joints, front brakes and shocks. Transmission and rear end oil have been changed. I'm a mechanic and changed the clutch, seals and t/o bearing about 6k back. Both tranny and rear end gears still look like new. Transmission shop also checked the tranny and said it looked excellent. (Tranny is nv3500, as I recall.) New seals, pan gasket. No engine or transmission oil leaks. None. Always starts. I rebuilt the tilt steering wheel mechanism, turn signal switch, etc. Those Chevy columns all eventually get sloppy and loose. This one will not. It’s all tightened down with new bolts and thread locker. Have receipts for everything listed.

Gets between 13 and 14 mpg on the highway. (not bad for an 80’s v8) Has a single gas tank, 35 gallons.

2 sets of rims. I bought wheels (mags) and tires as a set from a guy and they are on the truck. Original 4 steel rims and hubcaps are included. You can see the original rims in some of the photos. In others, mag wheels and tires.

The only thing added -not stock, is the trailer brake controller and the 5th wheel trailer plug. Plug is inside of bed -and works. It still even has the original cassette player. It worked too, til several years ago. The belts on those get old and break. Radio works.

THE BAD AND THE UGLY:

I've done the maintenance on this truck. It only needs one mechanical repair that I know of, that is the emergency brake cable replaced. I just never got around to it.

Windshield is cracked. Neighborhood kids got it with a bb gun. It doesn't obstruct driver's vision, however.

Sun has faded the paint and beat up the clear coat in areas (see photos). There are a few minor dings at the top of the bed sides. Scottsdale emblems are toast.

Odometer worked until about a year ago, and it just stopped at 129k. Speedometer still works, so it is in the cluster itself. I have two other vehicles and don't drive it a lot, but I would estimate the miles to be 132k at this time. I do have the maintenance log from the original owner and it shows the miles at 112,810 in '09. (It shows oil was changed religiously, btw.  Every 3-4k) I bought it in 2017 (3rd owner) with 119k miles on it. Ebay's history also shows it with 120k in 2017, when reregistered it. For verification, I also have a mileage book I keep for the IRS going back several years if you want to see it.

Truck has no a/c. Heater control is a little funky. I got the cables swapped, so the temp slider now controls the heat/defrost, and the heat/defrost now controls the temp. It works, just needs to be swapped back. Or have a good memory.

Sale does not include canopy.

Note: I took the first photos when I had it all cleaned up and looking good. I now live on a gravel road and it's dusty here, so kind of hard to keep it clean. Clean photos show how it can look. Photo with canopy is a current photo. Will clean it up and remove canopy when/if you buy it.
