1971 Triumph TR6 — Freshly Repainted | Restored Engine Bay | New Redline Tires
A well-founded TR6 that has been brought back to near-completion — with a list of new components already fitted, requiring some finishing work to be fully sorted.
Engine & Drivetrain
The engine bay presents very well — clean, tidy, and clearly the product of careful restoration work. The 2.5-liter inline six starts without issue, maintains good oil pressure, and pulls strongly through the rev range in the manner that made the TR6 such a rewarding car to drive.
The ignition system has been comprehensively renewed with new points, plugs, rotor, cap, and wires — the foundation of a well-tuned, reliable inline six. The carburetors have been freshly rebuilt, the tachometer cable is new, and a new fuel filter has been fitted. A new water pump rounds out the mechanical refresh, meaning the key wear items that typically define a used TR6’s service needs have already been addressed.
The gearbox is excellent, shifting through all gears cleanly with no grinding or pop-out. The clutch hydraulics have been completely renewed — new master cylinder, slave cylinder, and clutch hose. The system could benefit from a bleed. Brakes have received equal attention: new brake master cylinder, new rear brake cylinders, and all new brake hoses front and rear. Brakes feel healthy.
The suspension feels good, and the rear differential — often a source of the characteristic clunk that plagues many TR6s — sounds and feels entirely free of that issue.
Body & Exterior
The car has been recently repainted and presents well overall, with new front fenders and new headlight assemblies fitted as part of the process. Panel gaps are excellent throughout, there are no signs of past accident or structural damage anywhere in the chassis or body, and the undercarriage presents as solid and rust-free.
The one area worth noting honestly is some paint blistering isolated to the hood and trunk lid — the remaining bodywork is in good condition. Those areas still present well and require close inspection to notice at normal viewing distance, and the next owner may choose to leave them as-is while driving the car or address them at their leisure. Everything else about the exterior presentation is good.
The wheels have been nicely restored with excellent paint and chromework. The new Redline tires are Period-correct.
Interior
The interior is in livable, usable shape. The dashboard is in great condition and new carpets have been installed. The driver’s seat has a few splits in the upholstery, while the remaining interior surfaces present well.
